April 7th PWA Outing
Introduction:
The purpose of our outing
was to collect data for AT 31900 at Purdue University. The outing involved
multiple flight crews of two individuals each, with a varying amount of skill
amongst them. Data collected would be utilized to create a variety of deliverables,
in this case an orthomosaic of the area of study. All flights were conducted by
part 107 licensed operators, under the supervision of Dr. Hupy. All flights
were successful with no errors or incidents occurring.
Area of Study:
Flight outing was conducted at the Purdue
Wildlife Area (PWA), 8000 IN-26,
West Lafayette, IN 47906. Flights were done on DJI Mavic 2 Pro’s with the
onboard sensor being used. On day of flight conditions were good for flying,
except for mild winds. METAR Notes shown below.

Though wind was gusting, due to the low

tanks, burn plots, and the construction zone of PWA. The control station was
near the salamander tanks, though later flights would be conducted elsewhere
due to conflicts.
